Creating a Special Christmas Contest at DAISIE COMPANY by Audrey Jeanne Roberts

For those of you that are not aware, we have a special contest challenge going at THE DAISIE COMPANY  here’s the link to the instructions: http://www.daisiecompany.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21135  The goal we had in creating this contest was to get you crafting for Christmas so that you won’t be behind and racing crazily (like I always am) in the last week or two before the holiday 🙂

The prize for the winner in each category is one of my brand new cookbooks that were created for Brownlow Gifts.  See these posts to check them out: http://www.daisiecompany.com/blogs/audreyjeanne/?p=222   There will also be prizes for the second and third place winners in each category.  The categories are the best of  1. General Craft   2. Scrapbook Layout and 3. Greeting Cards (any greeting card qualifies, doesn’t need to be Christmas).  The only requirement is that your creation could be used as a Christmas Gift (doesn’t have to be Christmas designs) and that you use my digital art kits that can be found here: http://www.daisiecompany.com/cart/index.php?manufacturers_id=32&main_page=index.

If I can figure out how to do it, I’ll try to post some of the creations that are already entered.  I can’t seem to right click and copy them so if any of my wonderful wizard friends at DAISIE could tell me how to do that I’d be very grateful!!!

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY:  Prov 15:7-10  The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools. The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him. The LORD detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness. Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.  NIV

Comments on today’s proverb.  Often times people can feel that the church is full of hypocrites — that we should be perfect before we call others to reach higher, be better and try to live a better life.  I love this particular scripture because it shows how God looks at things.  He doesn’t care so much  that we’re perfect, but that we’re PURSUING righteousness.  He doesn’t want us to do a series of sacrifices or appear good on the outside and still be wicked at the heart,  he loves a pure heart, a tender heart and humble heart.  The prayer of the upright in heart pleases him.  He loves to answer the honest heart — don’t be afraid to ask Him for anything you need and for help for anything that you are facing today!

New Gingerbread House Digital Craft Kits Coming Next Week by Audrey Jeanne Roberts

(UPDATE: Now available in the Daisie store for $5.98 for the decorated house and $4.98 for the undecorated house.  Just click on the pictures to go there).  Gingerbread House Digital Craft Kit I have been working on these Gingerbread Cottages for almost two months and finally have them completed.  I have created one that is in essence a "blank" for you to decorate as you wish either by using my own Gingerbread Cottage Christmas kits that will also be coming next week or utilizing graphics you may already own.

The Cottage kits are a nice large size, but are printed entirely off of letter sized cardstock so every one can create it no matter what printer you own.

Gingerbread House Digital Craft Kit, PlainThese cottages can be used as gift boxes and look quite lovely when tied with a glittery wired ribbon bow to keep closed.  They can also be used to create your own Gingerbread Village display for the holidays.

I am working on add on kits that will have gingerbread people, trees, candy, signs, mailboxes, light posts, snowmen and other cute items to poplulate your village with.  I am having way too much fun on this (I thought this was supposed to be my work 🙂 )!

For the 100,000th visitor contest, we crossed 99,500 visitors early this afternoon and will probably go over the mark some time tomorrow.  If you want to be entered in the drawing for the random winner, be sure to post a comment today, tomorrow and every day until we cross as I will select from the comments on the actual cross over day!

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY:  Prov 9:13-18  The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge.  She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way.  "Let all who are simple come in here!" she says to those who lack judgment.  "Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!"  But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave.  NIV

UPDATE/EXPLANATION:  This proverb contrasts lady wisdom (the verses prior to the ones used today) and the woman folly.  The writer uses an artistic device to personify character traits and make them come alive.  I can only quote a small portion each day and I rotate through them picking a couple verses out of the proverb that matches the date as there are 31 proverbs, so sometimes you may need to pick up your bible and read it in it’s context to get its message clearly.

100,000th Visit Countdown, 99,000 is Coming Today!

Well, sometime this morning we’ll cross 99,000 so we’re almost there!  There are these four people that are the most likely to get it right:

Jane
Granann
amgranny4825(Terry)
Patsy
Aunt Anne

Their guesses range from the 9th to the 12th.  It is possible for me to have 1200 visitors in a day and have it happen today, but not likely!  Remember that those who post a comment on the day we cross over are eligible for a prize also.  I’ll be drawing randomly from the day’s comments.

I’m so utterly amazed that so many people have stopped by over the past 9 months.  It’s a joy to contemplate what I want to write and share from my heart.  Thank you so much for making me a little part of your day.

I’m working on my kits for next week and will have some previews up, probably tomorrow.  One is "Gingerbread Christmas" I will have a papers kit, a Gingerbread Cottage Makings kit, and probably will have my Gingerbread Cottage Centerpiece/Box as well.  So if you like to make your own packaging for Christmas goodies to give away or other similar projects you’ll have a great time with this kit!

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY: Prov 8:8-11 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.  To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.  Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,  for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. NIV

The 100,000th Visitor Contest Entries are Closed, the Countdown Continues!

Midnight last night was the deadline to get your guess in  and quite a few of you have.  Now that the guessing is complete I can tell you that as of this morning, the count stands at 97,472.  I have been averaging somewhat over 500 visits per day so in all likelihood we’ll go over 100,000 somewhere around October 9-11.

Remember that the day that we cross over, not only will some lucky guesser win any kit that they would like from my Daisie Company Catalog, but a winner will be pulled from the comments on that day, so you might want to chat it up a bit to increase your chances.

I was busy working on an urgent licensing project so I wasn’t able to do any new kits for next week at Daisie 🙁 but hopefully I’ll get some time over the weekend to put together some new goodies.  If there are any specific items that you guys would like to see me do for the holidays please let me know.

One thing that I’m going to be spending quite a bit of time on is working with Pabric printable fabric to create some holiday kits.  I’m thinking about several different way I can utilize the exact same skills and art we use to create cards or scrapbook a page to create a unique, personalized home decor.  One of the first things I’m going to be working on will be a Christmas wallhanging kit.  Pabric’s fabrics print up beautifully, with a vibrant true-to-color appearance.  So if you like to sew, or create for your home stay tuned!  By the way, Pabric’s website is www.pabric.com if you aren’t familiar with all their products.

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY:  Prov 5:21-23 For a man’s ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths.  The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him;
the cords of his sin hold him fast.  He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly. NIV

My 100,000th Visitor Contest…

Will only take guesses for two more days and then I’m going to cut off the entries and let you all know where the count stands for the final count down. You have until Thursday night at midnight, PDT to make your guess.

So, if you haven’t made a guess, make one by commenting on this post.  Give the day and the time (EST will be used as the standard for simplicity’s sake) and I will record your guess.  The person who guesses the closest to the actual date and time will win their choice of any kit in my entire DAISIE COMPANY catalog.  GOOD LUCK!!!!

A Very Different Contest!

Last night I went over 90,000 hits on my blog (Wow!  I’m still so amazed that anyone wants to read my rambling!)  So it got me thinking and I decided to do a fun contest looking forward to my 100,000th hit.  It’s very simple, all you have to do is post the day and time you think that we’ll cross that threshold and the person who is closest will win any kit out of my catalog at THE DAISIE COMPANY that they would like!  How’s that for fun?

Now I’ll give you some hints to help you guess better.  On a really slow day I’ll have a little over 300 people come by, but yesterday there were 864.  If my Aunt Nancy links to me in the next two weeks I’ll have 2500 hits in a day.  Sooooo…. it’s going to take a lot of luck to get it just right.  Only one guess per person though so make it a good one!

I’ll also have a prize for a random comment poster on the day that I hit 100,000 so keep up the posting of comments.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoy reading your feedback, especially when you have questions or make really thoughtful comments on my posts.  It keeps me loving writing here.  Have a great day!

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY:  Prov 23:10-12  Do not move an ancient boundary stone or encroach on the fields of the fatherless,  for their Defender is strong; he will take up their case against you. Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.  NIV

Throughout the scriptures God shows tremendous compassion for the widow, the fatherless and the poor.  He continually states that He desires not so much "religious" acts to get His approval such as public fasting and prayer, but that we turn our attention to those less fortunate around us and show our love for God by loving His hurting children.  Jesus even said, "He who does it for the least of these, my brethren, does it unto me."  (Audrey’s paraphrased version!)

The “Creating a Special Christmas” Random Drawing Winner for the Week is….

The week's winnerA very lovely Christmas card created by "Shazbar."  As a prize, she will win her choice of my Victorian Christmas Gift Bag set or my Peony Cottage Giftbag set!

Just so you know, no talent at all is required to win the weekly drawing (though it’s obvious that Shazbar has plenty of that!) All you have to do is create an item that is being given as a Christmas gift or could be given and make it using my digital art kits and upload it to THE DAISIE COMPANY gallery

I hope you’ll take a little time to browse through the contestant’s entries and leave them some encouragement.  Perhaps you’ll also pick up an idea or two along the way.

I’ll be sending out the prizes from the last week in just a few moments so if you’re one of the winners, look for an email from YouSendIt and your goodie will be there!

Today, I’ll be working on some overdue kits for Daisie… one will be in next month’s Club kit and 3 more will be Bingo prizes!  Then I’ve got to start working on my next set for the store… Whew!  It’s a good thing this is fun work because I sure have a lot of it.  Have a great weekend!

THE PROVERB OF THE DAY: Proverbs 22:9-11  A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife;
quarrels and insults are ended. He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend.  NIV

Cook Book Interiors by Brownlow and Audrey Jeanne Roberts

I wanted to show you samples of what the interiors of these cookbooks  look like and let you know that if you win one of the categories of the "Audrey Jeanne’s Creating a Special Christmas Contest" at THE DAISIE COMPANY, you will win your choice of one of the four cookbooks!

The interior has 98 pages all contained in clear plastic sleeves so that messy fingers won’t damage the recipe cards.

The 24 matching blank recipe cards are beatifully printed on extremely heavy card stock.

If you use these as gifts for Christmas or a new bride, you might want to include some of your special heirloom recipes written onto the blank cards to give the new bride or special friend a head start on building her collection!

The contest at Daisie Company will run through October 31st and covers 3 categories, crafting, scrapbooking and cardmaking.  There will be three winners in each category and for the beginning crafter, just entering your creations gives you an opportunity to win one of each week’s random drawing prizes!

The goal is to get all of us a jump start to crafting our Christmas gifts early so we’re not pulling our hair out the week before Christmas!!!!

Don’t be surprised if you post one of your creations and I lift your picture to post it here on my blog .  I want to show you off to all of my friends!

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY:  Rom 5:1-5  Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.   NIV

The Blog Contest Winner is….

the 4th commentor on the 20th day of the month (hehehehe, I’m making you go find out who you/she is!) aren’t I mean?!  Actually I’m doing that to show you exactly how the choice is made, we pick a number out of a bowl for the day of the month, then we check to see how many comments there are (we don’t even see who the names are that have made comments) and we pick a number out of the bowl again that’s within the # of comments made and we have a winner!!!

The next contest starts today through the 15th of the month and I’ll let you know what that prize will be sometime next week so stay tuned!  I won’t be writing any more today as I’m getting my coolest grubbies on and digging through our shop, garage, house and containers to find anything I can give away and get out of here.  Our church has a huge garage sale in September each year and the money goes to our building fund and the mess gets out of my house so we both win!  Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Coming Tomorrow! Additional Previews of Tropical Clip Art Kit. Free clip art contest ends in 3 days!!! by Audrey Jeanne Roberts

There’s three more days left to enter in the Free Clip Art Contest.  Just read back through this month’s posts and leave comments.  The way it works is that we draw the # of a day and then look to see how many posts there were that day as sometimes I post more than once a day.  Then we draw the # of the post and the # of the comments, so those that read and post each day have a much higher chance of being selected (or go back and comment throughout the month if you’re late to the process )  The winner gets their choice of the two Tropical Breeze Scrapbook Quick Pages Kits shown earlier in the month.

Here’s the additional product shots for Tropical Breeze 2 and there’s a preview of a set of Premade scrapbook pages for Summer Fun 1 that also will be coming out tomorrow.tropical clip art previews, palm trees

It took an insane amount of time, but I carefully clipped out each and every palm tree or palm cluster from 4 different paintings so that they are incredibly useful.and flexible for your layouts..

There are also a couple of wide borders with torn edges and a wavy stitched border. preview tropical beach clip art cloudy skies

This cloudy blue sky can be used for a lot more than beachy crafts.  It was createded painstakingly from 3 different paintings. it has a similar purely beach and waves paper that I haven’t shown.

The Summer Fun kit makes great summer scrapbook pages.  If you have pool shots, days at a waterpark, photos of your kids running through the sprinklers or any watery fun to document these pages are great for them.

scrapbook pages premade templatesDon’t forget to take lots of pictures as you enjoy your summer and think about what you want to scrap BEFORE you go play.  It can make things so much easier than trying to figure out what you want to do with the photos afterwards.  When you plan the shots that you would like to have you get much better results and avoid the "Oh no, I didn’t take a picture of….!"

THE PROVERB FOR THE DAY:  Proverbs 28: 1-2 "The wicked are edgy with guilt, ready to run off even when no one’s after them; Honest people are relaxed and confident, bold as lions.  When the country is in chaos, everybody has a plan to fix it — But it takes a leader of real understanding to straighten things out."  The Message

Free Clip Art Contest Reminder! by Audrey Jeanne Roberts

Just a reminder that there’s a little over a week to go in my monthly Free Clip Art Contest.  All you need to do to enter is go back through this month’s posts and leave comments.  The winner will be randomly selected from one of the month’s posts and will receive their choice of one of my two new Tropical Breeze Quick Pages sets.

There are two quick page sets to choose from so think about which you would prefer and be ready to tell me!  The other one is previeviewed a little farther back in the blog posts.  Both of these kits are coming out on Friday in the DAISIE COMPANY STORE.  I’ll link here to them once they become available.

I will probably post tomorrow morning and then will be gone for the weekend out enjoying nature and our friends at the annual church campout.  I’l make sure I take plenty of pictures and will post them when I get back.

THE PROVERB FOR THE DAY:  Proverbs 21:1-2 "Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; he directs it to whatever ends he chooses.  We justify our actions by appearances; God examines our motives."

Have a fabulous day!
