I’m so sorry that I have been MIA lately, I have been very sick for the past two weeks. My newest fabric line which is under development with Studio E Fabrics, couldn’t wait so I worked through the illness, but haven’t had the energy for anything else. Thanks for those who’ve sent sweet emails with their wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. I am feeling human again, and that without having to consume extraordinary amounts of caffeine!

I have two kits up in the store today. Both are based on the “Penguins at Play” winter artwork. All of my winter kits will be on sale for 20% off until December 15th, 2008, so if you’ve been holding back on buying — now’s the time! I want to thank all of you that have become customers at my digital shop since I opened a few months ago, we’re doing wonderfully in spite of the economy and everything else that’s going on in the world. SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: Rom 4:18-25 Against all hope, Abraham in hope, believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead-since he was about a hundred years old-and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness-for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. NIV

DEVOTION: Do you feel like what you are hoping for is out of reach? Does it feel like it’s slipping away? Are you so busy “doing life” that you don’t even bother to hope anymore? Hopelessness can sap your joy, energy, and delight in life. Some of you have had your hopes dashed so often, that you’ve altogether given up hoping. You may not even realize that is what you’ve done! But it is how some of us choose to live so we can just make it through each day. God wants us to live joyfully and full of hope. How can we do that?

Is hope wishful thinking? Is hope magical? What are we to hope in? What is a hope that has a possibility of becoming a reality? What is hope that endures? Of course we all know that we can hope for a lakeside mansion, but if we don’t have the resources to bring that hope to life, it isn’t likely to ever become a reality! A hope without a basis in reality is just a wishful dream.

However, a hope that is based on a promise from God that is established in His word, is a reality that is simply waiting for the right time to happen. It isn’t just a hope it is a guarantee! I may not know exactly when, where or how, but if God makes that promise to my heart it is a hope I can base my life on.

Abraham didn’t hope for a son just because he had a very great desire for one, his hope was based on God’s speaking to him that he would be “the father of many nations.” He was able to hold on to that hope over the many long years it took to become a reality because he had faith in the God who gave him that hope. Sometimes believing was easy and joyful, other times he lapsed into doubt and fear. In the end he remained faithful to God and God was faithful to him. One day he held his hope in his arms and praised God for him. Faith in the God of hope sustained him through the long difficult journey to his promises.

Do you have a promise from God? Has He whispered something to you, that He has said He will do in your future? If not, ask Him for a reason to hope. Ask Him for a promise that will sustain you. Then be still and listen for that still, small voice in your heart. Perhaps He will speak directly to your heart. It will sound like your own voice, but different — it probably won’t come in a Charleton Heston-like booming voice! Perhaps He will lead you to a specific scripture that will be a promise for your future. If so, write it down. Keep it before your eyes and when it seems that your promise is very far from becoming a reality, remind yourself that your hope is in the Lord.

If you are almost too afraid to hope right now. If you are looking at your world and aren’t quite certain where your hope lies for the future, may I respectfully suggest that you start simply by looking to the God of Hope and join me in this prayer:

PRAYER: Lord, you’re the God of all hope. Please make yourself real to me and show me where I can safely hope. If I have been hoping in the wrong things — things that will never be or are not what you have planned for me, please lead me to a brand new place of hope. Where my hope has been so delayed that I have become weary and afraid, please renew my joy and give me a new ability to believe.

Lord, like Abraham, I have unsolvable issues that I am powerless to resolve and make happen. You know what they are. Please speak your promises to my heart. Give me something to hold on to that will not fail me. I want to cling to You and Your promises as the only real and powerful hope that can see me through in the days ahead. AMEN

It’s a three dimensional, layered gift tag that you can make quite easily and glitz up with glitter, jewels or? I personally adore decorating my packages with really special gift tags so I hope you’ll enjoy this little gift.

I think that this Christmas is going to be both a challenge and a blessing. We all have a little less “excess” to go overboard with Christmas gifts so if you are crafty at all, it’s an opportunity to use your gifts and talents to make up the difference! My very favorite Christmas memories are the ones where I spent time making my gifts for my family members rather than last minute rushing through the stores and grabbing what I could find and afford.

The real meaning of Christmas isn’t the glitz, glamour and race to outspend each other — it’s that God gave His most precious gift, His only begotten Son to a world that was lost without Him. It’s that God wanted to enlarge His family through that gift and that His passionate desire is that we would have His Peace fill our lives and our world.

So as we head into the fall (yippee on the brisk cool mornings, I LOVE THEM!) Let’s think of really meaningful gifts we can give to those we love. If you have grandchildren, perhaps you could take them for a weekend to allow their parents time to rediscover their love for one another. If you have a neighbor that is growing old and frail, perhaps you could take them with you to see the Christmas lights. There are so many meaningful things that we can do for each other that cost very little if anything — except of course our TIME, which is the most valuable and limited thing we own.

“Holly Berry Christmas 3” Brand New Digital Clip Art for Christmas

I wanted to capture a mix of the new, contemporary colors and design elements yet make them work with a classic Christmas color scheme or the other digital clip art that you might already own.

There are very delicate and detailed scroll work accents, hand lettered, hand-painted text, beautifully detailed holly sprigs in various shapes that work together very well to round corners and make frames with. I’ve created some delightful “ornament” charms that can be printed on cardstock and placed back to back with your trims to make sweet little ornaments to adorn your hand made cards for Christmas. These ornaments were first produced in gold accented orcelain by a manufacturer a few years ago.

I’ve been working with this kit today on two additional kits, an “Instant Scrapbook” set and a greeting card and envelope set. It’s very, very easy to work with and almost anything you do with it will look great!

This is the very first Halloween Clip Art Kit I’ve ever done. I wanted to do something that was very sweet and innocent — non-scary for the little kids. I have to confess that doing framed prints for a living I’ve never even considered doing Halloween Art. After all not many people want to put up a picture on their walls with this theme, LOL!

I hope you’ll enjoy the sets. I’ve created one “Trick or Treat Art Kit,” a matching paper pack and a “Harvest Blessings Art Kit.”

The previews feature a lot of the midnight blue colors but make sure you see all of the previews as there are a lot of traditional orange, gold, and browns in this as well!

It took all day to get this pulled together, but I finally got it up in the store. I normally do not release new art directly for digital clip art, but I intentionally created these kits for this purpose. So many of you are so patient with me when I show you art that you can’t have yet I wanted to do something special for this season and for my special friends!

There are quite a few pumpkins, pumpkin leaves and vines that you can put together to make borders, frames or other items with. In addition there’s an adorable art piece with a pumpkin-headed scarecrow, owl and a fun autumn tree.

This kit will also work very well with the Fall/Harvest sets that I released last year (and hope to have up on this site during the next week). There will be a paper pack to match that will be out shortly.

In addition, later this week or next, there will be a sweet, innocent, non-scary Halloween set coming. The art for it was painted at the same time this art was and it will coordinate perfectly together.

CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO FREE RECIPE CARD DOWNLOAD Those of you that know me, know that I ADORE THE FALL!!! The first crisp day of the fall season is one of my favorite days of the year. Perhaps it’s because I live in a very warm summer area of the country and don’t particularly enjoy heat. Perhaps it is because I love the warm, spiritual focus of Thanksgiving and Christmas and the first day of fall reminds us all that these seasons are approaching. All I know is that I felt the tiniest hint of coolness a night or two ago and my heart soared, LOL!

I am working on brand new art this week. Normally I don’t release brand new art to digital use until 2 or 3 years of licensing has passed, but I’m going to break my rules on this one. I’ve been painting up a storm and have a freebie to give you a sneak peek of what’s to come.

These recipe cards show art from two of the kits, one is purely pumpkins and fall, the other is a very sweet, non-scary Halloween kit. Each is available in a lined and unlined version so you can hand write or type in your recipes. I hope you’ll enjoy both the sneak peek and the freebie recipe cards.

A refuge is a safe place, a resting place and a place that can be defended. Help me to rejoice knowing that you are standing guard over me and surrounding me with your inpenetrable shield. Thank you Lord that you are blessing my life as I rest and rejoice in you. AMEN

The kit contains 32 pcs. and many of them are pieced “quilts” in square, border or frame format. There are two finished card fronts and a wide variety of borders.

Deep reds and greens with parchment tan makes up the color palette. I hope that you will enjoy the classic, natural feel of this artwork and the quilts that were created from it!

Nature’s Christmas New in Store

It is my habit to show 100% of the pieces included in an art kit in the previews. I like to see what I’m buying anytime I buy something, so I make sure that you can too. So I’ll show all of the previews here and my helper will probably be able to help me figure it out when she gets back from her weekend away.

This set is called “Nature’s Christmas” and has an elegant, woodsy feel to it. I love to alternate between glitzy glamourous Christmas decor and then a more natural feeling Christmas. My favorite place to celebrate Christmas is up in the mountains at Hume Lake Christian Conference center, especially when they get an early snow. This set captures those wonderful memories for me and I hope will help you create some very special memories this coming holiday season!

I want to remind you that there are only 133 days left until Christmas. If you are like me and want to do so much but never quite get it done. Think of one project you can work on this month and get it done. You’ll feel so good about it that it will give you the momentum to keep going — honest!!! The years that I’ve done that have been such fun and special holidays. It’s so much fun to have “guiltless” holidays. If we stick together we can do it!!!

FREE Digital Patriotic Greeting Cards for the Troops

With Independence Day (in the United States) coming in just one month, I wanted to create a kit that I have had on my heart for a very long time. There are wonderful people and organizations all over our nation that are doing whatever they can to make sure our troops overseas know that they are loved, supported and appreciated.

In my own tiny church there is a large group of mostly women that have been doing an incredibly good job at this. The ministry is called "Love our Troops," and they send personal notes in greeting cards, care packages and make handmade cooling scarves to express their love and encourage the young men and women that are serving the Afghani and Iraqi people as well as protecting our nation.

Though our family has sent dozens of cards, because of my schedule I haven’t been able to do as much as my heart desires. I began to think about how I could enlarge the effort and realized that I can create a kit that just might facilitate a lot of other people to make cards and send them!

This kit contains 3 greeting cards, one is blank for your own message and two matching envelopes. It is FREE for personal use or for organizations that will be encouraging the troops. You can download the kit by clicking on the picture at the top of this post and a window will pop up from 4shared.com. When you click on that window it could take a while for the download button to appear at the top left of the page (a couple of minutes if you have slower internet service). All you have to do is click on that download button and select a place to download it to on your hard drive.

PRAYER: Lord, when these words were written, mirrors were warped, dark reflective surfaces that didn’t perfectly "mirror" the image being reflected but gave a shadowy glimpse. So many days when I think about you, heaven, the life that is to be and the life I am leading now, I feel like I only have that shadowy hint of what is to come.

But faith, hope and love help to guide me along that path to the place where one day I will see clearly, face-to-face. Give me the strength to continue walking along that path each day and help me to know and feel you love for me as I am making the journey. Amen

Valentine’s Day and Year Around “My Heart’s Garden” Whimsical Hearts ‘n Flowers Clip Art

I wanted to do a kit that could be used for Valentine’s Day, was whimsical and yet wasn’t all red, pink and white so it was limited to the holiday. So as I scanned my hard drive I found the art that I did for my book "A Hug for You Today" and it fit the bill perfectly! I’m still cleaning the art and getting pieces ready so it will be a bit yet before it’s ready to be released, but here’s a few pieces for a sneak preview.

There’s a really fun border that is made up of all of these whimsical heart-inspired flowers plus some bleeding hearts, iris, whimsical daisies and more!

I’ll bring more previews as I get them finished, now back to my scanner and photoshop!!!

Merry Christmas to All!

We had a lovely family Christmas this morning at home with our girls that live with us and now we head off in the sleigh (okay monster van!) to head out to San Diego leaving them behind for a few days. Not likely to have a White Christmas when it’s in the 70’s in San Diego… boo hoooo hoooo! Oh well…

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and rich blessings of Family love and companionship (and no pounds from the calories consumed!) I will be gone until just before New Year’s so if there are any problems with any of my kits etc. please be patient with me 🙂 and I’ll attend to things as soon as I am able.

Thank you all for a a MAGNIFICENT first year here on my blog, with all my licensed product and my digital clip art kits at THE DAISIE COMPANY. It has been such a joy and a learning experience. Thanks for all the suggestions, advice (and demands :-)!) It has been such a help in deciding what to do next out of the millions of ideas floating around in this crazy brain of mine.
